Original Item: One of a Kind Set. LUCIUS CURTIS PEASE JR., known as “LUTE”, lived from 1869 until 1963. He was Nationally known as the Political Cartoonist for THE NEWARK EVENING NEWS from 1914 until 1954. The archive is made up of EIGHT original pieces of pencil Art Work published during WWII and into the Cold war era. These are totally original, covered in whiteout corrections, and each is titled. Most are officially stamped with a 3 1/2″ X 2″ Newark Evening News stamp to rear, indicating the Day of the Week and Edition time they were to be featured in.

The cartoon titles in the archive include:- “MAYBE THE KICK OFF”, “PLAYING WITH FIRE”, “DE TOUR”, “PLANE SPEAKING”, “A PUFF FOR THE YANKS”, “HOOK UP”, “THAT SHOP COULD BE WRECKED”, as well as one from which the title has been removed. There are eight 19″ X 15″ original sheets in total, unframed.
